The cameo is a jewel through the incision of the shell, in particular the Cypraecassis rufa, the Cassis madascarensis and Cassis Horned because these shells of the family of Cassis with the surface consists of two distinct layers of color, which allows you to isolate clearly from the bottom figure in relief.
Still working cameo is made handcrafted.
The first phase of the process is the choice of suitable for shell engraving. Later it moves to scoppatura or to cut the convex part of the shell, the "cup" and then proceeding to the mark and the shaping of the piece cut, or in the cup will draw the contours of cameos that we get and delete, Cut , unnecessary parts.

Finally we move on to the clasping that gives the piece its shape (usually oval or round), using a special grinder. Now the pieces have been repaired on a warm wooden weather with mastic made from Greek pitch, wax and canarian grass. After mixing, we move on to the peeling that the abrasion of the outermost part of the shell leaves the surface layer of clear impact. The work then goes to the engraver who draws the subject to be played on the surface

Il cammeo è un gioiello attraverso l'incisione della conchiglia, in particolare la Cypraecassis rufa, la Cassis madascarensis e la Cassis Horned perché queste conchiglie della famiglia dei Cassis con la superficie costituita da due distinti strati di colore, che permette di isolare nettamente da la figura in basso in rilievo.
Il cammeo ancora funzionante è realizzato artigianalmente.
La prima fase del processo è la scelta dell'idoneo per l'incisione a conchiglia. Successivamente si passa alla scoppatura ovvero a tagliare la parte convessa della conchiglia, la "coppa" e quindi procedendo al segno e alla sagomatura del pezzo tagliato, oppure nella coppa si disegneranno i contorni dei cammei che otteniamo ed eliminiamo, Taglia , parti non necessarie.

Infine si passa all'aggraffatura che dà al pezzo la sua forma (solitamente ovale o tonda), utilizzando un'apposita smerigliatrice. Ora i pezzi sono stati riparati su un caldo clima di legno con mastice a base di pece greca, cera ed erba canaria. Dopo la miscelazione si passa al peeling che l'abrasione della parte più esterna del guscio lascia lo strato superficiale di evidente impatto. Il lavoro passa poi all'incisore che disegna sulla superficie il soggetto da riprodurre
